Is a real JDM ITR worth it?
Well the title says it all.
I've been looking into ITRs from japan and they're usually pretty cheap.
It'll be pretty cool to drive a RHD car, and it'll be a real JDM car, so i wouldn't have to spend money on jdm conversions lol
But my question is are they worth it?
I do plan on registering the car and actually driving it, what's the point of having a car if you only drive it once every 4 months or so?
Another question i have, were JDM ITRs ever made in Phoenix Yellow?
Thanks for the help.

Yep, they came in yellow. Importing is the easy part. Registering is not so easy. The only legal way is to import 3, convert them to USA Safety standards, and use a couple for crash tests. There is a recent thread on this. It has all the info you will need.
You could use it as a track car, but not a driver.

i just thought it would be cool idea to drive a RHD and be unique.
i just came up with this idea of getting a real JDM since every time i do fine a nice ITR in PY, its usually a bit too pricey or has some dumb mods done to it.
i've also been looking into ways people have gotten their JDM cars registered here in the most evil state of all time California lol
here's the site that i've found that sells cars from japan if anyone is interested

hopefully i can score this job here pretty soon and start asap on working toward an ITR
and i'm also a college student, i would just get your usual integra, but everyone already has one same with civics and their exhaust and loud stereos lol
i have thought of a DC5 type-s but their a bit too heavy, and also i see them all the time which can be kinda annoying
i love the ITR for what it is, its a more hardcore, lighter, finely tuned version of the integra
i've always been a fan of cars like this, that's why cars like the lancer evo's, lotus elise, Mclaren f1 have always been some of my favorites

haha thanks, i just wanna know exactly what to do so i don't do anything dumb, or careless
and i also plan on investing on a good security system. the very last thing i want would be some a** hole getting their dirty filthy hands on it.
so i think ima stick with USDM ITR then
hopefully i can run across a stock PY, but if it had a JDM front end wouldn't be bad either

It's only worth it if you think it is. I'd love to have a JDM ITR, has all the nice little cool things that the USDM models got screwed out of, Eg: steering wheel, seats, ect.
thanks to everyone, you've all helped me out
i've realized that getting a real JDM ITR isn't reall worth it unless i just wanna be a complete showoff lol, and i'll go through hell if i'll even attempt to register it
eventually i'll find a stock PY ITR

Read all 8 pages. Seeing as you can find a JDM Integra Type R for cheap from sources like Japan-Partner, it seems logical to import one. I am still half sold on importing one. Getting the car to your port/coast is one thing, but past that is completely different. You run the risk of having your car destroyed by the port authorities if things really don't go your way, and even if you are successful with getting it onto american soil, by that time you will have paid at least 2.5K added to the cost of the car. The process of convincing the DOT to allow your car is lengthy and nerve-wracking, and hiring an RI (registered importer) can be very costly.
Also, with GM just barely recovering, it will be harder for you to get it past the port, seeing as what the economy wants is for you to go buy that Suburban you've never wanted.
All in all, if you really want a JDM Integra Type R, it will be hard, but if you prevail, it will be extremely satisfying.
Oh, and any JDM car attracts unwanted attention, so you WILL have to put your car under heavy security measures, be conscious of all cars that follow you for more than 3 minutes, never spend more than an hour at any given mall, etc. The last thing I want to hear is an Integra that took months to get here that got stolen after a week.
