When i decided to race some guy today (which i try to avoid most of the time) when i shifted hard into second, my glovebox flew right open and even got off the little things that hold it in the open position and was hanging there lol....i couldn't beleive it....everyone thought it was wicked tho lol

 

Yeah, Type-R's area real piece of **** like that. Maybe one day we can all afford a real sports car.

 

You don't like your type R? I thinks its sporty....but im thinkin of a mustang like newer one or a 5.0 on the side to mod myself and run crazy times lol

I have to say this is the first time I have ever seen Type-R and piece of **** in the same sentence I love EVERYTHING about mine BTW, my glove box hasn't popped open.. yet

the only time it did that to me is when i dropped shifted into 1st gear....and boom it flew open...i dont beat the **** out of my R on a regular basis like that...so i'm not to worried about it

 

The other day at the track on my launch the glove box flew open, all it's contents ended up on the passenger seat, the ash tray flew out somehow and ended up in the back seat and the cup holder popped out too...I run with the glove box open and empty from now on...

I hate that thing but the S&M way fixes it. It was so annoying at the auto-x.

 

My glovebox has never opened by itself.

 

to clairify, it's at the bottom of the mods section of our site. For the record, this fix has worked wonders for me, It hasn't happened since i made the fix, and last night at keystone it would definately have fallen out if not for the fix (i had some very violent launches)

 

I use the "Glove Box" as a way to measure how hard I launch (If it pops open or not).

Heh, when I was at the dragstrip my cupholder and changetray along with the glovebox also popped out!

I'd rather the glovebox pop open then have my knuckles get all bloody when the stock head unit comes out.

 

all my tegs did that
i learned to keep it locked and empty the cind tray when racing.
i have gotten projectiles launched at me many times.

 

I call it my clutch guage. I also can perform a coin trick with mine. I place a coin in the ashtray then shift to second gear hard and it'll pop the coin into the try under the ebrake handle. Great for parties and impressing hot chicks.

I've had this problem on my turbo RS(bottom of the food chain). For the ash tray I glued a pice of velcro to keep it shut. I dont know about on your cars but the glove box on mine has metal plate in side and metal on both ends. I took the glove box apart pulled them around 5lbs. No problems since.
