ok so i still cant get my 00 itr to fire up. the dizzy was tested and is good. im getting fuel. what im not getting is SPARK.ive double checked my grounds. tried different ecus. im using a ls harness btw, which i heard wouldnt be a problem.
One weird thing that happens is when i turn on the ignition my temp gauge goes all the way to hot. anyone have any idea?

I'd try an ITR harness. The LS harness doesn't even had the vtec solenoid plug. I'm sure there are other differences too. Checked the cap and rotor for corrosion?

Your car can still start if the temp gauge goes right to hot. This means that the wire connected to the temp. sending unit is grounded or the sending unit is bad itself.
I would check fuse 9 under your dash. This would keep you from getting spark.
If you have the ITR harness I would put that back in. There could be some differences with the anti-theft system that may be causing it not to start.

When my 98 RS wouldn't start the reason was the upper tab button on the clutch pedal arm had broke and fell out and the clutch interlock switch wasn't being depressed when trying to start the car.
Have you noticed any broken pieces of plastic on the floor under the clutch pedal?
The upper tab button is hard to install. The lower one is simple but it's just a stop.

check to make sure the sensor on the side of the head is plugged in for the temp sensor or you could be using the wrong cluster back film.
have you run a compression check btw? what year ls harness are you running? I've had this problem before but can't remember what it was
