Default someone with F22B DOHC experience

My wife's f22a6 blew in her 93 Accord, I just ordered an F22b DOHC. Her car is an auto btw and hp/performance is not my goal. I understand most people here are into max Hp and performance, It is not relevant in this case just need a good runner.

That said, I am hoping to find someone with actual experience with a similar setup, I/anyone can speculate all day, I really only want to hear from someone who has first hand experience...

All the write ups I have read say you can use the f22a ecu, however I stumbled across a few people saying it runs like crap. Now, does this mean the car literally runs like crap and idles/drives poor, or does it just not have the hp you wanted? I found a p39 auto ecu for 120$ But if the car will run well with out it I will not buy it.

Also any feedback on which ecu provides better gas mileage. I keep going back and forth, the f22a might have less aggressive fuel curves and result in better economy. The p39 is correctly mapped for the motor though. She was getting 27-32 with the stock motor I hope to get similar results.

Perhaps you've reviewed this, but it looks helpful.

Btw, when they say something runs like crap, they mean it's a pain to drive regularly. If they were talking about performance, they'd reference power loss.

We installed an F22b in a civic a couple years back. I remember we had problems finding a timing belt and water pump. 1.8 liter GSR timing belt fit. But it was a tad wide. Performance was ho-hum. An H23 prelude si motor would have done just as well. The F23a is a good torquey alternative.

^^ I agree. Get an H23A1 or an F23A for parts simplicity in the future, and those motor works just as great!
