In an effort not to have to search piece by piece for the 99-00 civic si interior so that I can get my interior black, I was wondering has anyone done an interior color change professionally and what exactly was involved. Can the stock door panels, dash, pillars and such be painted over easily but still look good? Im just looking for some more information, cost approximation maybe would help.. And any images would greatly help!

 

99-00 Civic don't have black interiors in North America, they are darker gray. Japan had black

From what i have seen, if you paint plastic parts in your interior, it looks pretty good when first done, but done age.hold up well

There are better things you could spend your money on, but it's your choice. If i wanted a black interior, i'd just buy an Integra, lol

 

your best bet is to just change out the interior to the 99-00*(Dark grey interior) not black but it looks way better than the light grey interior..*or just look how DIY threads on painting your interior.

 

cosign on this one. painted pillars and dash looks good new, but raggedy when aged by the sun and time.

 

So is there a chance that my interior now is the same color as an SI from 99-00 since my car is an 00 EX? I dont think it is light grey... but maybe there is a darker grey. How can I find out more

 

unless it was a swap done by a previous owner, which i doubt, then you have the light grey. the SI interior looks almost black. post pics.

 

In your driver's door jamb there will be a color code for the exterior paint color and the interior color.

For the interior colors:

TYPE F - Excel Charcoal (Light Gray)
TYPE K - Classy Gray (Dark Gray)
TYPE P - Medium Taupe (Tan)

All US EM1s (Si) have Classy Gray interiors.

I have the Classy Gray interior in my '98 EX coupe. It does not look black. It's a blue tinted gray on the plastics and just plain gray on the cloth. The cloth, when faded, tends to turn a purplish tint.

 

you beat me to the reply button lol but In response to the OP, NOFX is dead-on correct. The interior in my SI looks exactly as he described. I kinda wish the black interior was available in the US for the EM1's but as always the US gets screwed while Japan enjoys their black interiored EK's and from-the-factory RHD cars lol

 

I really don't think people in Japan care that their cars came RHD from the factory like all the other cars in Japan. lol

I was never much of a fan of black interiors as much. Dust shows up easier.

 

i like the black just because it gives the car a nice two tone. either way, the SI interior is really great looking, too.

 

So when you say the black interior you mean the CTR interior? Because there are actual black interiors, not just black/red interiors.

Si interior looks incredibly similar to any other car with the Classy Gray interior. I mean, besides the holes in the headrests and the real leather boot and **** instead of fake. lol

 

Finally: a reference to the Si boot -- you say it's real leather? Been wondering about this for ages.

 

All that I can tell seems to point to the Si as having a leather shift boot. All other US Civics have the same part number, but the Si has a different one.

Interestingly enough, the B16A (SiR, VTi, VTi-R, etc., depending on the country) equipped cars in Europe and other areas also used the same part number shift boot as as the US Si and the lower trims all used the same part number shift boot as the lower US trims.

 

Oh, OK, I was hoping you had seen one ... unfortunately, I think the part number difference is only due to the chrome ring at the shift **** collar, to accommodate the different way that the leather shift **** attaches to the boot. Add to that the fact that the Si shift boot is only about $16, I still have my doubts that it's leather.
