Default Advice on GSR b18c motor

Sorry if this has been covered, I tried to search but couldn't come up with what I wanted. Anyways I'm somewhat a Noob with the vtec motors and what they are worth. But I'm in the process of purchasing a B18c motor minus the exhaust manifold, and comes with a b16 trans. It came from a 95 GSR and ran great when pulled. The guy wants 1100, is this a good price for the motor and trans, i plan on putting it in my 98 coupe. Thanks for any input

i paid 1000 for my b18c1 wik 40k and 400 for my lsd b16 trans so yours is pretty close to what i paid, also my trans came with axles and a starter and my b18c1 came with everything buy the clutch and a extra intake manifold

$1100 is good for just the motor if it's clean and well cared for, let alone for a motor/tranny setup. Even if you have to rebuild the B16 tranny, it'll be worth it. You'll need all the other stuff though...the axles, ECU, etc.

1100 for that is good IMHO. Just make sure that its the real deal and not a scam

Pretty cheap considering I paid $3000 from Hmotors online with everything (rip off). If you want to check if the tranny has LSD, look at the axle holes on it. You should be able to see through it. There shouldn't be anything in the way.

You'd better get a bill of sale and have them put their DL number on it (and check the license to see that it matches). You don't want to get stuck with a hot motor swap and get your car impounded. IIRC, that motor won't have a VIN on it, so it'll be hard to track as a stolen motor, but at least do due diligence. Do they still have the car that it came from? If so, get the VIN from the car and check CARFAX and check with your local police dept to make sure that car isn't stolen.

to see if its LSD. look through the hole inside where the axels go. if there is a bar in the way, its NOT LSD. if you can see all the way through its LSD. bam.

did he give you a start up deal? like if it does not run, your money back.

I paid 2000 for my complete GSR swap, and THAT was a steal at the time (like 3 years ago). But, mine also came with a big box of mounts (actually ended up with almost 2 whole sets of mounts), ECU, the entire wiring harness, linkage, and various odds and ends.

$1100 is close to crackhead price, especially if he throws in the extra swap parts that you'll need.

Did he tell you it ran great? or did you actually drove it before it was removed? Seems kinda fishy like something might be wrong with it or its a stolen motor. However, be very careful when you go and purchase it. Bring someone that knows alot about motors to inspect it.
