I know I wasn't supposed to... Ground Control Coilover Related
I really couldn't hold out, I bought my ground control coilovers three nights ago and they've been staring at me since. So tonight I decided to jack the car up and throw the fronts on the with the stock struts. I know you're not supposed to, but I had a few questions. First it seems like my stock struts are swimming in the GC threaded sleeve. Even with the rubber rings around the struts there is still play in between the inside of the sleeve and the rubber ring wrapped around the stut. Is it supposed to be like this? If I do buy new struts what will work with the least hassle, I believe Koni's need special hardware to work with ground controls, I was thinking Tokico Blue's since I don't necessarily need something adjustable.
Dont worry, once the weight of the car settles on to the springs, they wont move at all. Btw, never drive a car with a lowered front, and a stock rear height. I figured this out the hard way when my car fishtailed on a sharp turn. If you arent ready when it happens, then you could seriously get hurt.
Tokico blues have a low dampening rate. I think I would get a shock with more dampening esp with street coilovers. How do the GC's ride?
I have Tokico blues with Ground Control. Mine are lowered at about 1.5. I tried it at a lower drop and it was kind of bouncy. The Tokico blue's are great shocks, but once you get higher spring rates or lower it more extreme, then you will have to upgrade to the Illuminas.
