114 octane leaded race gas burning out o2 sensors
I just want to know if running 114 octane leaded race gas will cause an o2 sensor to go bad? Two of my friends used this gas when they ran at Sac raceway and now they are getting CEL's. My friend with a '97 gsr missed shifted big time on one of his runs, ****** from 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th and redlined the engine pretty bad. When he came to the pit area, his idea didn't sound right at all and we both thought he bent some valves but some friends of his got th CEL code and told him it was just the sensor. Is this right? Would an o 2 sensor going bad make the car not idle right??? It does make sense cus my other friend with an ITR also has a CEL but his idle is the same.
leaded gas can damage O2 sensor and the cat. btw... next time you there, double check it for yourself.. i'm pretty sure its Unleaded.. don't know if any/or what other damages could be from that type of gas..
other than O2 sensors and cat fouling leaded feul wont dammage anything, I recently ran a thread asking about leaded race fuel, and also talked to my speed shop and that is what I was told
