How long (in both miles AND years) did your Eighth Generation Civic last, before having major mechanical problems? Please also indicate whether you live in a snowy area or in a place like California where the conditions favor car longevity.

 

well i live in so-cal.
my 08 si has almost 70k i've put on it in the past 2 1/2 years.
no problems except for squeaky bushings

 

07 si in NE Ohio with 63k miles on it with not a single issue

 

2006 with 78K and no issues at all! Rides and drives perfect

 

Just about to roll over 60k on my '08 Si. No major issues to report. I live in NW NJ where it snows from November to February.

 

I bought the 08 Civic Si 4dr with 34,000 mi in October 2009. I had the 3rd gear synchronizer replaced. It was covered under warranty. Dealer told me that it was not a recall but a "service bulletin" No problems or issues since then. 39,000 miles now.

 

'07 Civic EX Coupe. 73,000 miles. No major issues since I purchased it with 69,400. Door rattles a bit when you shut it with the windows down, just an annoyance, not what I'd call a major problem.
Car was from NE Ohio, now in W Maryland. Ohio gets more snow than MD but MD still gets snow.

Updates:
73,828mi: Replaced both rear wheel bearings due to whine/roar noise

 

Several of you sure do pack on the miles on your cars. I'm about to hit 24K and the car will be in my possession for two years on June 24th (purchased brand new), and no major problems to speak of.

 

I wish my car still had 24k miles on her....jeez...lol.

I can only imagine how many miles my car would have on it, if I had to drive it to and from a job. Luckily, I just walk out the door, hop in a work truck and go.

 

My car had 22K in the first year

 

2008 Si Pittsburgh, Pa. 6,900 miles and no problems. Just wishing I had some more power, she's a little sluggish. hehe

 

Occasional 3rd gear "notchiness", squeaky bushings, thermostat, water pump, idler pulley, auto tensioner pulley, head gasket, and a partridge in a pear tree.

 

06 Civic si 30,000

replaced 3rd gear around 24,000

drivers headlight turned into a swamp, replaced under warranty

Passenger seat adjuster fell off in my hands "fixed" under warranty it locks in sideways a little LOL

Passenger side mirror rattles and looks like its about to fall off



I have a 1997 HX with 250,000 that seems better put together!!

 

08 si with 39k miles, the idler pulley recently started squealing pretty loudly at higher rpm. no issues other than that.

 

08 Si 16,000 miles. No issues at all!

 

live in calgary, canada. winter 8 months out of the year. 93' si 255.000km, so far biggest issue was water pump.

i know its a civic thread but, 08' tsx 70,000km not a single problem.

 

I have 68k on my 06 coupe i live in NY and it has seen 3 winters already i am still on the stock clutch and brake pads/rotors front and back and have had no issues so far..

 

wow, i thought i had high miles (45k on an 07) but i've been proven wrong lol.

anyhow, not a single issue and i bought the car 2 years ago at 18k

 

Have 2007 model and have 58K on it sofar. Had multiple problems from the beginning.
1 - noticed right after pulling from dealership - front driver wheel made loud clicking noises when going over a bump.
2 - Driver seat cover fell off by itself - replaced.
3 - Had to replace upper strut bearing - supposedly fixed.
4 - Driver seat made squeaking noises - replaced.
5 - One of sun visors overheated and broke.
And now while making left turns i hear loud persistent and periodic clicks from front driver wheel.... axle shaft issue?

 

08' EX Bought it brand new Feb 08 with 13 miles on the odometer.

37k+ no problems.

 

i have an 08 that i got with just 12 miles on it. 65k later and my biggest complain is that the thermometer is 2-4 degrees off sometimes. big deal!

 

I might regret posting in this thread, karma and all, but I am about to kill it.

I bought my '06 EX in January with 180465. It now has 184200ish and the only thing done beyond maintenance was the belt tensioner and a battery.
I got 415miles to my last tank, just filled it up yesterday.

 

ha! I'd just make sure the major mechanical maintenance is or has been done on it. And if you don't know, do it anyways if you want it to last.


I'm a bit over 28K on my 08 Si. No major issues at all. some minor interior crap.

 

I'm a Honda tech, I do this all day. The first owner was in the home care medical service doing 45k a year. I have a print out of all work done since new that is 3/4" thick.

 

08 FG2 just hit 30k no major problems at all aside from the 3rd gear that was fixed with for free by the dealer. Still runnin the stock tires and everything
