Hi there,

I have a 98 2L Coupe. Last week the door locked and will not unlock.
when I press the remote key fob I can hear the two clicks, same when I pull the pin up from inside, and no luck when pulling the innner door handle, the door refuses to open!

1. Any ideas on how to get the door open so I can remove the inner panel to effect repairs?
2. Any thoughts on what the cause of the actual fault with the door locking mechanism could be?

So its automatically relocking the door after you unlock? How about pulling the negative on the battery to kill the power. Should be able to unlock the door without it relocking.
I thought there was a sticky on this in the FAQ... nope don't see it. IIRC its a limit switch that is inside the actuator that becomes stuck in the lock position.

 

I hear two clicks which ever way I attempt to open the door, sorry not technical enough to know if it is relocking the door.

I have tried disconnecting battery to no avail......still refusing to open!

Is the pin going back in when u pull it up?
Do you have a slimjim? (some cops have it to if you know one that can help u ex. neighbor) maybe a Pop a Lock near by?.
Maybe if you can find a way to manually pull that lock up, it should hopefully let you back inside.
From there id pull the panel off like you said and start checking everything out.

 

have you tried holding the key in the door in the unlock position while trying to open it?

 

Thanks to all of the above but to no avail.....

I have managed to get the top part of the inner door trim off and taken the passenger side door trim off for comparison.....

All of the internal workings of the lock/handles appear to be working correctly as compared to the passenger door

Any suggestions are GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I'm getting too old to keep climbing in through the passenger side!!
