im pissed new lma's didnt shut my engine up
b16a2 head, 7 angle valve job, brian crower flat faced valves, blox duel springs and retainers, blox c cams. used lma's
the engine has a hair over 6k miles on it after rebuild, noticed the head had a lot of valve train noise even after many valve adjustments. finally broke down and bout new style lma's and installed them today.
start the car and the ****ing valve train noise got louder by a hair. the lma's did get rid of the loose bolt in the head noise but my valve train is really loud and i still dont know why. the entire engine has 6k miles on it. the part of the rockers that touch the cams are good and not messed up in anyway but could there be something else wrong to make my valve train noisy like this?
is it possible its the blox springs and retainers?

then it's defiantly valve train noise. i know with larger cam profiles it will naturally be noisier. try swapping in a set of stock cams to see if it changes? you could have a bad or broken valve spring?
can you get a video/sound clip and host it up so we can hear?

the only way I could record it is with my iphone but even when I had my type r cams in the valve train was loud but id figured it was lma's.
the valves and springs went in at the same time both were brand new out of the box. they have 6k miles on them. its never been rev'd past 8500 or miss shifted. I just dont get it, think the valve could have slop from a worn out guide or something

ive had prople tell me everything from lma's, bent valves, cracked springs but everything in this damn head is brand new. is there any way to shut this ****er up?
Sounds a bit louder than mine but I am not running any cams just valvetrain.I think thats about normal especially with the cams in there.
so im not crazy? cuz I know alot of other people with vtec engines from stock to jg full race b20v's and none of them make as much noise as mine
Well my head is sitting next to me I just got it back from the shop I had all my guides done and I have supertech valvetrain in mine running the b16 cams.I will let you know if it made a difference or not.
.006 intake and .007 exhaust.
a buddy of mine who builds reliable high hp motors told me tonight to set them to .003 and.004 anyone know about running that tight of tolerance?

.003 and .004 is too tight.
you have the right specs for stock cams....they should be fine even with the aftermarket cams.
you have to do another valve adjustment....it sounds like some are out of spec....maybe you are not doing it right?

sounds just like my motor. you gotta think. when your running a dual spring it has a faster harder spring rate, valves close faster to prevent overlap. thus making the valve hit the head a little harder. makes a light tick sound but you have 16 of them doing it, ive run skunk, portflow and supertech dual springs and no matter if i had low profile blox hsl cams or my bc 3+ or my current pro2 the head always sounds the same, perks of racing man. if you want to make it quiet get sock cams and stock valve springs
injectors are stock right now, I ran my 310's and my 550's and all sounded the same.
im running castrol syntec 5w30 full synthetic.
and the sound like a loose bolt or spring and retainer clattering under a load came back, not as loud or often as it did before
but if im in fourth doing 25-30 mph or im in 4th ay 2200-3000 rpm. at about 1/4 throttle to full throttle between those 2 rpm's I hear this rattling coming from the motor.
could my vtec rocker be bad or something?
the only thing stock are my rocker assembly now

i already told you what it was. and itll sound diff when your choking the motor in 4th doing 20mph, any car makes a noise, if you dont like the sound take out your dual springs put stock in and a guarentee that itll go away, ive done it first hand.
