Need help with Mugen Intake Splash shield for DC2
I bought a Mugen intake recently but it's missing the splash shield thing and it's supports.
You can see what I'm talking about here:

I know for a fact that a lot of guys are missing this but it's important to keep water and condensation out of your engine.
Installed, it's supposed to look like this:

I'm going to fabricate one but I was hoping somebody could help me with the dimensions / hole placement so I can start. Would be happy to post up a diy once I'm done.
It would help me and hopefully others.
Cheers

I've been running without it for quite some time with no problems. I think if you are fabricating it you can just eyeball it, no need to have the exact same dimensions.
This will be a cool piece to see once you get it made! Good luck!

Not a big deal not to have that particular piece. Short of submersion in water, it is hard to get water in that location anyways. You could always turn the snorkel down to prevent it from acting like a funnel for potential water.
There is a hole at the bottom on the snorkel to drain any water/condensation that somehow gets in there.
You do realize that there is a filter between that and engine?

Its not entirely necessary for the above reasons. But if you really wanted it, you can get one from one of the sponsors selling a similar intake.

I appreciate the replies. Apparently this part didn't originally come as part of the airbox kit, but made an appearance in later versions.
I assume something must have happened for Mugen to decide to spend the money to add it i.e. litigation by a disgruntled customer.
Having it will give me some comfort.
I would honestly really appreciate if somebody could give me specs of the Mugen or any replica.

it has all parts for it, never been used
Ok, so I keep looking at the pictures, and for the life of me I don't see how that shield would help keep water out of the intake at all. Water doesn't drain from up top, and it doesn't splash up and over.
I'm with everyone else--what's the point of it?

I just install mine ,i think with the usdm front it`s less off a problem ! With the jdm front the gap ( between the bottom of the headlight and bumper ) wich is minimal anyway ,could let water in toward the intake at higher speed !I would have to remouve the bumper after a rainny day and a good drive to see ,i`m really curious!
