H22A swap questions!!
my 93 prelude vtec threw a rod a punched a hole thru the block so im in the process of getting a JDM H22A..my question is what parts from the usdm motor have to be used on the jdm one such as distributor, fuel rail and ecu?..ive been googling this and keep getting different answers..also if i use the usdm ecu, will i throw a knock sensor code since the jdm motor doesnt have a knock sensor?, its what i heard..im just looking for a no-nonsense answer..thanks a bunch..
I originally wrote this on another website....
things JDM h22 has that USDM does not.., and vice versa
JDM h22 has fuel rail backwards.., along with wiring for RHD cars., you will have to use your wiring, and mod where needed..., also JDM h22's have a evap purge valve on the fuel rail.., you will notice fuel pressure regulator vac line runs into it.., take evap purge valve off fuel rail, and run the vac line from fuel pressure regulator straight into intake manifold... you already have evap purge valve...
JDM h22 has only one temp fan switch..., usdm h22's have fan switch A and B
H22 JDM and USDM have knock sensors..,
JDM h22 has internal coil distributor (same as civic SI)
H22 JDM and USDM also has IAB's intake air bypass (butterflys)
if you happen to get a JDM h22 from an accord type R.., you will have no vtec pressure sensor.., just a bolt in its place.., you can either get one, use a power steering pressure sensor, or wire it like the accord type R, and disable it.., (ecu does not look for it) not ghetto, real oem wiring config to disable pressure switch.... and the intermediate shaft from an accord type R is different..., I had my axles made for an H22 from a prelude..., when I got my motor, I found out it was from an accord type R.., rear mount, and intermediate shaft were different.. I found out that there is no difference in HP between the two.., accord type R's also come with a P2T4 tranny.
when doing swap..., don't worry about wire colors, just worry about what ecu pin they go to
the rear mount with JDM h22 from accord type R is different than preludes..,
hope this helps...,

the motor im getting is a jdm 93 prelude H22A..does that mean i can use my usdm dizzy, ecu, fuel rail, and whatever parts needed to transfer to the jdm one?..will it be plug and play pretty much?
