OBD1 distributor on OBD0 ECU\harness
My story: My room mate and I are moving out of this place and I have till June 1st to get the car working. So buying a distributor is out of the question and I do not want to dump a lot of money into this car since I already have a down payment ready for a new car. Working, this car is maybe, roughly worth $500. As you can see I'm trying to be cheap here.
I've been doing a little research on this and it seems to me that most people that are converting to OBD1 Dizzies are completing the entire engine wiring swap and ECU.
I know I could spend $100 at the distributor king for a distributor. I also read that Rywire sells a "conversion for the wiring". But then again I don't have time. I have 4 days to complete this or pass on the car.
I have an OBD1 from a 93 D16Z6 complete OEM distributor and an OBD0 89 Civic. The ECU on this car is showing that the TDC sensor in the dizzy is bad.
If I am to fallow the schematic on Alldata (the car is not at my current location) I only see 8 wires leading to the dizzy.
On the new OBD1 dizzy I see 9 wires. On this documentation it also shows 9 for both.

if you are using the OBD0 ECU, you cannot use the OBD1 distributor - won't work - OBD of ECU and distributor must match, except OBD1 and OBD2 distributors both work with OBD1 ECU
i am currently at this very moment working on my full obd1 custom harness for my car. and i dont see how you see only 8 wires going to the distributor when there are 7 per the big plugs and 2 per the smaller plug.
you might be able to get the obd1 distributor to work if and only if you swap out the internal gear, this gear creates the pulses. again, i am saying you might be able to, im not saying it will work. or simple solution. trade your obd1 for an obd0. by doing it the cheap/wrong way you will waste valuable time.
also like stated above. you cannot just plug an obd1 distributor onto an obd0 system and expect it to work.

used DPFI distributors are cheap at junk yards
