Default Gt40r compressor cover seal?

Was wondering if the precision gt4067r is supposed to have a seal between the compressor cover and backing plate. I called precision and they sent me seals for the center section. Before I call them back I want to see if there is even a seal on it or not as I've seen some turbos with it and some without.

Thanks for any help
Tommy

Check the packing plate and see if there is a grove around the circumference of the plate where a seal would be. If there is a machined groove, that is where the seal would rest. This will tell you if youlll need one.

If there is a machined slot where the black line is around the circumference of your backing plate, that is where the seal goes and thus you would need one.

Edit: In my posted picture of my turbonetics unit, I do not need a seal. My precision 3071r does require one though. I dont know if thats just something that Precision does on their turbos or if it has to do with certain applications/ turbo or comp housing sizes.
