92 honda prelude
ok guys i got rid of my 97
i was to far in debt and wanted to get out. But i just found a 92 prelude si 5 spd for 1200. It has a clean title, and from the pictures i've seen it is a very clean prelude. It has 270,xxx miles though, thats the only thing that worries me, also he said the a/c doesn't work.. but that's not a big deal at the moment, i can always roll down the windows. What should i look for? What should i do before i decide to buy the car? Any common problems i should look for? Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Ian

I've got one JUST like it. 93, with H23A1 and Auto with 260K.
Works pretty good, but ABS light is always on (ABS pump is seized) and the car has seen more air time than a skateboard at the X-games! The only major problem is that it burns A LOT of oil as I have to add one quart for every fill up. Even at that, I get 23mpg and it runs well.
I am getting ready to overhaul or replace the engine. I really don't want to try to change to a manual and get all the linkage setup, so it really doesn't make sense to change to an H or F22. I think I'm going to help my son (15) rebuild the motor.
BTW: The AC works well on mine, but it needs a new heater valve to shut off the hot water going to the heater core in the summer.

see if they have any maintenance records also look for any leaks, funny noises, but remember the H series valves are kinda loud. Check all the fluids make sure theirs no water in the oil vice versa and make sure it doesn't smoke.
