Speedometer in '95 EX coupé not working
Greetings to all,
I just purchased a 3rd hand Accord '95 EX coupé and the previous owner told me to replace the speed sensor for the speedometer to work. I did it already but it still isn't working. The whole dashboard was replaced by the previous owner due to a failure in the fuel meter and a crack on the plastic cover, but he also gave me that. If I put the original back in would the speedometer start working again or is this anything else I should be aware of? Is there anywhere that I can access a full chart of the F22B1 SOHC VTEC engine? I would like to know every detail about it so I can be aware of anything that comes up.
Cheers,
Filipe

is the check engine light on? if it is then check the code to see if it's the speed sensor code. if it's not on, the the speedometer itself is bad. you can do one of two things:
A: switch the speedometer from the old cluster to the new cluster
B: switch the fuel gauge from the new cluster to the old one and re-use the old one

I don't know why common sense doesn't prevail.
The Check Engine Light is on for a reason, scan for the CEL and find out what code it's there for. If it is in fact the VSS and you had replaced it with a used one or random eBay branded one I would wager that is the problem.
As to knowing every detail you need to purchase a Helms manual and thumb through the Accord FAQ

Anyways, I'm taking it to a specialist tomorrow as there are still tons of things to get sorted out and this is just the beginning. I'll let you know if I find something.

From the Accord FAQ, you are OBDI but similar will apply.......
You can do a search if you need pictures for the 2 pin service connector on the passenger side behind the glove box.
Along with how to take apart the dash and everything else you could think of.

As I said, you are OBDI but can use it as a reference.
