Default D16Z6 Engine harness please help!!

I have a 96 DX hatch automatic, I bought a d16z6 engine with stock tranny and harness. Can I use the d16z6' harness in my car? which one would I need? I already have a hondata p28 with the ob2-obd1 conversion. Thanks in advance.

good that you have the downgrade harness but you still need to run vtec wiring. other than that everything should bolt up. I would use your stock harness since its been downgraded already.

No you cant use it, get a 96-98 5spd ex harness for the easiest swap, at the least you'll need any 96-98 civic harness.

Actually it's two problems: 1st, the injector plugs are different between the 92-95 injectors & the 96+ injectors; 2nd, the flow rates are different between the D16Z6 injectors (240 ccm) and the D16Y7 injectors (170 ccm) in the 96 DX A/T. I don't recommend putting the Y7 injectors in the Z6 engine because you'll run a pretty good risk of running lean.

Injectors from a Y8 engine will fit the Z6 manifold & fuel rail, they are 240ccm, and they will plug right into any 96-98 Civic harness that you decide to use. Otherwise, you can cut the plugs off the D16Z6 harness and put them on the 96-98 harness, but then you would be left with a useless (couldn't really sell it for anything) Z6 harness.

Great info, thank you. I will go with the 96-98 harness. Also, i'm going boost so i'd need to swap the injectors. What would be suitable for the motor. Thanks

Yeah, tried that, didn't work. If you want I'll take pics of Honda OBD1 injectors and show you the difference between those & mine.

Just get some bigger injectors and worry about fitting those on. No need to waste time with 240cc stock Civic injectors.
