D16Z6 Engine harness please help!!
I have a 96 DX hatch automatic, I bought a d16z6 engine with stock tranny and harness. Can I use the d16z6' harness in my car? which one would I need? I already have a hondata p28 with the ob2-obd1 conversion. Thanks in advance.
good that you have the downgrade harness but you still need to run vtec wiring. other than that everything should bolt up. I would use your stock harness since its been downgraded already.
Injectors from a Y8 engine will fit the Z6 manifold & fuel rail, they are 240ccm, and they will plug right into any 96-98 Civic harness that you decide to use. Otherwise, you can cut the plugs off the D16Z6 harness and put them on the 96-98 harness, but then you would be left with a useless (couldn't really sell it for anything) Z6 harness.
Only one problem fellas... injectors. Actually it's two problems: 1st, the injector plugs are different between the 92-95 injectors & the 96+ injectors; 2nd, the flow rates are different between the D16Z6 injectors (240 ccm) and the D16Y7 injectors (170 ccm) in the 96 DX A/T. I don't recommend putting the Y7 injectors in the Z6 engine because you'll run a pretty good risk of running lean.
