Difference in JDM ZC tranny and Si tranny
Just like the title states, trying to figure out what tranny is in my car. Its an L3 but has LSD. I was doing some research on google and a site said that with the ZC tranny had to use integra axles. Is this true? Would a ZC bolt up to a JDM D15B? Or do I just have an Si tranny with aftermarket LSD? Also, difference in 88 and 89-91 crx si trannys? Just curious because I was looking for clutches and said will not fit 88 tranny.
ZC has the same gear ratios as an Si, so it wouldn't matter.
If the transmission uses the intermediate shaft, it will not work with the D15B block unless you modify the axle(driver's side) or swap a "regular" differential in there.
88 transmissions have a different input-shaft spline count(the clutch itself is smaller diameter too).
What Tyson is trying to say is how do you know if the transmission is already in the car? Is it already in there or are you putting it in there?

Had it off the car. And if the way to identify what year trans is right (the gold sticker) then I have an 88-89 trans. Now I need to figure out for sure which one I have.

Jus blew out my diff on friday so i went thru this AGAIN lookin for a tranny
ok, fair enough, you have a LSD if you can see right thru the differential with both axles removed. the "gold" L3 sticker means nothing. other than its a 88-91 tranny. nothing more. not "88-89".
you needed to look at the main shaft tip in order to know the year.
theres a stamping on the trannys that from what i read tell the year. but thats confusing and not always accurate from what i hear.
so are you using an intermediate shaft or not? if you are... then ok, you got a DOHC ZC tranny with a factory LSD. and you probably have DA integra axles installed to make it work anyway. regular SI axles wouldnt work with a DOHC ZC diff, it NEEDS the intermediate shaft.
if you arent.... then i dont trust anything ur saying. because i cant think of a non-intermediate shaft tranny that came with a OEM LSD.
giving you the benefit of the doubt. you got the intermediate shaft, right?

No intermediate shaft. I got the car from a kid who bought it from some guy who worked at a tuning place. The kid I got it from knew nothing about the car so now I'm trying to figure it out. It may not have lsd, I could have been looking at it wrong. That's why I was curious about the zc trans because I two have never heard of a factory si trans with lsd. Plus, my first post said I think it may have aftermarket lsd, I never said it was OEM. I'm going to replace both half shafts so in the process I'll snap a pic.
