My 95 1.5l 16 valve runs terrible. Ive replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil. The car idles ok but misfires when accelerated. If I pull the spark plug wires off the plugs I noticed that cylinder four doesnt spark when held to the valve cover. Cylinder 3 sparks a little. And cylinders 1+2 cant even be removed from the spark plugs with the engine running or the engine stalls. The only thing I can think of would be the igniter in the distributor but wouldnt this just cause a "no-start" condition? Any help appreciated.

Do a compression test.

 

Ill check compression but it still doesnt explain the spark problem.

yeah, double check your timing first.
also, do you have an ignition coil?

 

Timing checked out and I tried a new coil but there was no change. New distributor this weekend!

 

try cleaning out the fuel injectors did the exact same thing to me i clean it and my car ran good again

 

If you are not getting cyl #4 spark, check the dist cap and wires. Sounds like you got a carbon track in the cap which is sending the spark somewhere else.

its not the coil, since if it was bad it would give you no spark.
