Icon2 Best NA Engine for 12's?

So im getting tried of my 330hp boosted B series and wanna try something new. I want to build something reliable and fun to drive but that can still whoop *** NA. I really want to at least reach 260+ whp, 280 would be goal area for me if all motor. Also i dont want to spent more then $5k building it. So probably NO k's.. here are my Ideas and i wondered what you guys think

What is the Best NA build.

a. H2B 12:1 comp / possibly G23 hybrid

or

b. J32a2 v6 / possibly swap crank and rods for 3.5

i want to hit mid to low 12's all motor and still DD if i want to. wondering what pros and cons of each are and what the cost would be. I seen full j32a2 swaps done under$4000 What would it take $ to make a H2B compete with the J..

With that goal you might as well have stayed turbocharged

you're going to have to go K series and it is going to cost twice your budget for all motor. just build a bad *** b18c and hit it with a 75 shot. do it for $3-4k and then take a vacation to Hawaii with the other 1k ahhaha.

you can find a h23vtec long block for around 800 bucks these days, slap some high compression pistons and pro3's in there with some head work. you could get a custom header around a thousand dollars or so and that should get you close to 280 whp. you might go a lil over $5k with all the labor and h2b kit but it will be close. i can see from your avatar, looks like you have an ek9 ej7 civic?

You'll get tired of the all motor's faster than the turbo cars.

^thats funny. lol. one of the few people that may admit it.

I love both but I do like to switch it up, thats why I like nitrous. you get to have 2 different power outputs.

I say J swap. alot of the guys doing them are putting down 265whp/225tq with headers exhaust and a intake. those motors have alot to offer but they aren't for every one.

MY currect car is a 1997 SEDAN i ran 12.9 at 259.9whp and now its at 330whp and 14.7psi also have slicks but i havent ran it yet this season. im guessing i might hit a high 11 with my Sedan, **** cracks me up. BUT im moving to chicago with emission testing and crap and dont want to worry about it all anymore. my car sounds freaking crazy mean and i know that theives would be all over it up there..

All the votes where for h2b and not j32a2. Does anyone have any good reasons other then the hood getting chopped?. For the price i can make a 250hp h22..i could make a 320hp + j32a2.

Changing the timing belt on the J would be a pain in the ***...
I think you can build a 250+whp H series for under $5000.

why stroke a j32 when you could just mod a j35 out of a oddessy..? If I remember right they have the same cams and intake mani but the van motor has a spacer in the intake mani to make tq lower. and van motors are everywhere.

j32a2 has same bore size but bigger intake valves and better head flow all together. the 3.2 makes 260hp stock compared to the 3.5 making less.. like 240? And they dont have the same cams. the Type-S is Higher Comp. Also both motors are cheap. its said most J32 or j35w are around $500-600 for engine. Can u beat a 260hp stock reliable engine for $600?!

Also Yes you have to cut the hood. But i do body work and all mechanical work and it wont be hard for me to make a nice clean hood to fit over it with out looking riced out.

Iv seen people attemp to do nice looking hoods on them and I can honestly say I think it looks better if you just leave it cut out with a clean i.m.
