On some parts of my car I spray too much primer in one area an was wondering what grit sand paper should I use to smooth it out? Also right now I got 1500 and 2000 grit paper on me if that would work.
it all depends on what you're gonna be doing with it... are you going to be sanding it to primer again?... or sanding it in preparation for sealer? or basecoat?
for another coat of high build, you can use as gritty as 180. if you are getting it ready to seal and paint, wet sand with a block and 400 then wetsand again with 600.

I am just looking for a grit to sand it down to smooth it out with the body because I spray too much primer making it thicker than the body.

At work we block primer out with 220 for a straighter cut, then 320 to get rid of the scratches, finish it off with 600.....but the final sand all depends on brand of material being sprayed. Standox line doesnt like 600, it'll shrink and show.
