I posted this in the integra section with no luck, so I'm posting this here now. Should have posted this here first, but I forgot we had a trans section.

A few weeks ago I had a horrible missed shift, and my trans started whining pretty bad. I pulled it out and had my friend who works on trannys inspect it and he ended up replacing all the bearings, and I decided to Have him put in some carbon synchros while it was open. He said mechanicly everything else looked great. Well, the trans is back in and the whine is A LOT better, but I can still hear some whining. I'm not sure what else it could be if the gears are all good and all the bearings are new? Any suggestions on what to try? I'm using regular honda mtf, maybe royal purple or synchromesh to quite it down? Could the actual input shaft be damaged? It was a 3 to 2 shift at 8k rpms, real bad. Seems to shift excellant right now though, and all is good except for the whine.. Any suggestions would be great.

Maybe your throwout bearing is making the noise. .... Is the noise constant? Does it only sound when you press/depress the clutch pedal?.....

 

I bet it might be your pilot bearing still whining
