DAY ONE-So going down the highway my back right tire just so happend to run over a ****ing nail....outta four lanes a 3" nail pops my new kuhmo 225/50 etc, pull over and say every bad work in the book three times each.
DAY TWO- 9:30am location. Local Tire shop. Mission-Install tire plug for 10 bucks. Im thinking Yay i get my tire back!!!

THIRTY MINUTES LATER- writing the check. Pull my rex around to install freshly repaired tire........BUT WAIT WHY DOES MY TIRE LOOK LIKE ITS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!!!! HOLY **** EVERYBODY RUN!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOMMM..

FIVE SECONDS LATER-tire shop owner walks over to me and say- it appears that the beads where broken from driving on it for 5sec with low pressure?

FIVE MORE SECONDS LATER-**** my life.

 

That would definitely upset me

 

wow a similar thing happened to me and worse, the day after I got my crx, I let my mom drive it to work, that very day I came home and saw the tire had exploded, perfect first day owning a crx, and second a week after buying it my rear passenger disk started squeaking, I ignored it and suddenly 4 minutes later it locks up completely on the highway sending me all over the place, at least I didn't crash, but this is bad luck

 

that sucks and i would be pissed

 

i call bullshit. i had a bad valve stem go on my azenis and drove on them for over half a mile (had to, no shoulder, two lane). put on a spare when i could pull over, took that tire to sears and had them put on a new valve stem, and nothing happened. the side wall was a little chewed up, but i still autocrossed, and drove down to arkansas and back (central pa) with that tire. had the tire for over two years.

bad bead.... more like a 18yr old kid who didn't know wtf he was doing and the shop owner covering his ***.

 

i would make them replace it, i have never seen a tire eplode from a bad bead. it would just not seal and leak. sounds like it was over filled and when he pulled it around it heated up the tire causing the air to expand till boooom.

I would say that speeding then hitting something sharp and pulling over plus the combination of over inflation also i have sharp lips on my rim,.

Maybe you guys see it different but im a little confused at all the hate here. I think what 90_EX_civic was trying to say is that it was probably the fault of the tire shop, more than likely human error of the employee, and that they should be buying you a new tire.
