so my alarm hood pin broke and when i alarm my car, the remote screen shows that the hood is still open. so i tried putting a new hood pin and its doing the same thing. i eeven grounded the hood pin wire and its still doing showing the hood open. what could be the problem. thanks.

 

isnt the hood pin wire supposed to ground only when the hood is opened? thats why when the hood pushes the switch down it moves the connector down with plastic thus keeping it from grounding out and when the hood is up it comes up and makes contact with the metal thus triggering the alarm. i could be wrong but im pretty sure thats how it works, try making sure none of the pieces of the copper wiring are being grounded out anywhere on the chassis. i had to put some electrical tape around mine to make sure the strands of wire werent touching anywhere else.

 

yea the wire is not touching anything right now and it still says the hood is open. i ll try following the wire to see if it is splice anywhere thats touching a metal.

 

ok cool and also put electrical tape around the area where u crimp the wire to the attachment that hooks to the hood pin switch just to be on the safe side, thats how mine was it didnt seem like there were any pieces to the wire grounding out but i still put the tape there and havent had a problem since. i made a thread about it a while back im sure its somewhere on here cuz i had the same problem as you.
