Default how to check if tranny is bad

I pulled the tranny out of the car but need to know if it is bad. I changed out the throw out bearing because the tabs had broken and also the release fork because that to had broken. I put it all together and when i went to put it in reverse it didnt want to go in. I then forced it in and then it didnt want to come out and the car would not run. it would die if i let off the clutch.

So tranny is out of the car again. With a screw driver I can move the little *** were the shift linkage hooks up. but I only see/feel like three points.

Any advise is appreciated thanks.

Car is a 96 civic DX

Am I posting in the wrong section. I am not getting any responses. This is the second thread I start with respect to tranny issues and not one reply.

Your linkages could have been hooked up wrong or way to tight to make reverse feel funny. and on ur linkages there is two... one twist side to side and the other one will go in and pull out.. i would check and make sure the clutch fork and throwout bearing is installed properly and if everything looks good it could be the trannys synchronizers if it only happens in reverse
