k203 motor problem. need help troubleshooting.
Car: 2002 honda civic si
k20a3
mods: none, the car is stock
the problem:
The motor will turn over. It sputters, sounds cam'd (lobed sounds) if you force it to start. Once I got it to turn over and stay running but it wouldnt rev out whatso ever. The only check engine light it throws is misfire cylinder 1,2,3,4 and random misfire
Here is what I do know:
I have replaced the fuelpump assembly with a working unit (thought fuel pressure regulator was the problem). The car gets fuel. The car has fresh gas.
I have checked the cams and I also ran a compression test (it was 180 across the board) I thought maybe it could be a compression issue?
I have replaced the spark plugs and correctly gapped the plugs. I have checked all connections of the harness. I have test the coils to the best of my ability. The coil seems to send spark.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Literally the car went from being perfectly fine on a 25 mile drive home to me coming out and trying to start it and it being problematic.

sounds like a timing issue. I would look at the crank position sensor or cam sensors. They sending timing signal for computer because we don't have a ignition module.
how is your timing crank to cam easy way to check that is pull your valve cover tdc the crank and the see how far your marks or off between the cams this is the best way to check your chain and timing also remember only turn your motor clockwise never counter clockwise
CAR IS FIXED. The timing chain skipped like 4-5 teeth and the chain was stretched a few teetch AND the chain only has 110k on it! Everything was fine luckily. Replaced chain and tensioner, all good to go, perfect compression still.
Check your chains and tensioners K20-ers!
We checked the timing marks after hearing about how this seems to be a pretty common issue(shutting car off after driving it, it just not starting randomly)-(from k20a.org) so sure enough, it was off 4-5 teeth after rotating the crank and trying to align the timing marks!
