Overheating Problem!!! Need help ASAP!!
Hi,
I have a 1995 honda accord 2.2 Vtec. The car running fine and all of a sudden the temp gauge jumped passed the red area...but then it would go back to normal and back to red and continues. Turned the heat on to discover the fan doesn't kick on, so i decided to run the fan straight to the battery hoping it would fix the problem but no luck. I'm thinking maybe t-stat or temp sensor right by the upper hose. I could be wrong so any input would be Great!!!
Thanks

dude had the same problems with my car and i went and had my thermastat housing and sensor changed and it stopped doing it completely i dont if you havent tried that try it out itt might work
get a fail safe thermostat, they are like $5 more than the cheapos, the valve will stay open when it goes out so there is no chance of overheating from that after installation. i dont think that my main fan works either, but mine doesnt overheat. its probably your thermostat valve sticking.
make sure you have
10" and/or 12" socket, pretty sire its a 10 for the housing
a set of pliers that can reach around the coolant hose, i use one for the clamp as well
a torque wrench, i think the housing bolts are torqued back to 9lb.
go buy that thermostat and the gasket, both cost like $20 tops. and will only take about 30mins. just make sure to drain the coolant out by twisting off the plug thats located on the bottom towards the center of the radiator. you'll need to look underneath, jacking up the car isnt required. while the coolantg is draining take the air intake off for easy access. wait for the remaining coolant to drain and take the hose and the 3 bolts off, put the new one in, put everythin back the way it was. fill the coolant back, bleed the coolant for any air and your gold!

another question i have is how do i know which sensor to replace? from my knowledge i have 3 sensors, one on the back of the block above the oil filter (1 prong), one under the dizzy, and one on the housing neck by the upper rad hose
