Default Powering an ECU away from car

Hey guys

I was wondering if there was any way to power an ECU away from the car? I don't have a laptop just yet and I would like to install a basemap in my Hondata S300.

Yes there is, however there is no point in installing a basemap on an ecu when there is no vehicle to run. I don't understand why you would want to do this.

I do, in fact, have a vehicle to run but no laptop. So the point would be to install a basemap without a laptop. Thanks for all your help

ostrich and demon can be programmed without the ECU. (powered via USB)
chips have to be burnt outside the ECU anyway.

why do you need to power the ECU without the car?

the most common reason to power up an ECU on a bench is to verify operation due to a repair.

The S300 isn't powered via USB, only through the ECU.

Best bet is the Engine Sim mentioned above, or manually connecting power and ground (Which any OBD1 pinout chart can give you locations for). If you're not sure what to do with that information, I wouldn't try it yourself.

You could always get a really long usb cable lol :-)

Just take the car & s300 to a hondata dealer & have them upload a calibration to the ecu for you etc.
