Icon6 d16z6 transmission

im new to the honda game, just bought a nice clean 95 civic with a d16z6 motor and 5spd. the car dosnt go into reverse so im looking for a trans. when i put it in reverse, it feels like its in 5th and tries to go foward? question is, anyone know what could cause this? should i be looking for a new trans? if so which transmissions fit the motor. will any trans from a 92-95 civic 5spd work?

i appreciate any info, im really excited to start messin with the car but there is so much info out there that its overwhelming.

Any tranny from a D series will work. However, yours came with the EX/SI tranny so I'd replace it with that one.

after talking to another friend he thinks the linkage may be the problem. i have already found an si trans for $200 should i scoop this thing up or also look into the linkage. does anyone think this sounds more like a linkage problem? it shifts smoothly through all gears but will not go into reverse. it acts like reverse is 5th gear

if all the other gears work fine, are in the right spot, and the shifter feel doesnt feel like crap then i dont think its a linkage problem. Not hard to check under there though. I hate transmissions. 200 is a ok deal if the tranny is in good condition. Id just roll without reverse haha

u kno i would def roll without it too. but i just crashed another civic and have a broken leg. not fun to push without both haha. the shifting feels ok, just loose like the bushing in the linkage is worn out

imo get yourself a y8 tranny. probably tranny problem lota people seem to force into a gear and many dont reset their gears before going into reverse.

a y8 trans is out of 96-2000 civic the benefits is that they are newer and less miles... well most of them that is....
