Default Aftermarket Gauge/Cluster Lighting Question

I have an Eg hatch and I'm installing an aftermarket temp gauge, and was wondering what wire to tap so it lights up with the cluster?

Hmm...ok I t-tapped the red/blk from the dimmer switch, is that right? Also does anyone know if I am mounting the gauge on the dash, where a good place would be to run the wire through?

Does anyone know if the dimmer switch is "positive" or "negative"?

Thanks, Anyone know a good spot to run the wires through from the top of the dash to underneath?

The gauge is going to be mounted on the dash, and I need to find a spot to run wires from the top of dash through the bottom where the gauge wiring is.

Just wondering. Did you solder and shrink wrap connections as well. You have to provide more info if you want precise info on where EXACTLY to run those wires.

I don't see how I put the wire together dictates where I can run them through the dash, but there is no soldering because there are no breaks in the wires. Each wire in the "harness" is continuous. I was just wondering if there was a good way to mount the gauge on top of the dash and then get the wires ran through underneath.

I still solder all my connections even when there is not a break. Simply strip the wire, wrap it around and solder it. I do stand corrected, because shrinkwrap would be impossible, but the solder is possible

About the routing, there are no breaks in the top of the dash. You would have to favor one side and route the wires up and around that side of the dash on the top. Otherwise, you have to drill a small hole and "love that location" because its permanent.

Thanks. I ended up running it under the dash and squeezing the wiring kind of behind. You can see about an inch of the wire before it connects to the gauge, but its not that obvious in the car.
