Default Electrical Issues

2001 Type-R symptoms:
1. Battery needs charged w/ an external charger often
2. Battery light is on at idle, but goes away as I throttle up
3. Recent screaching noise, like from a belt
4. Car won't start at all by the end of the work week (5 days)

I've researched as much as I can and it would seem that my alternator is going bad and I need a new belt. Would you all agree? And if so, where can I get these items fairly cheap? All the web searches come up w/ NSA and other off-brand alternators. Are these ok as a replacement or are they crappy?

Thanks.

I would personally get one from ebay.

73 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-...Q5fAccessories
98 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-R...Q5fAccessories

Check the basic stuff first like the battery connections and make sure they are clean. You can also spray the belt with belt conditioner to get you by for a while and possibly tell you if its just the belt. You could also stop by autozone and have them check out your alternator for free.

1. Test to see whether your alternator is charging your battery.
2. If it is good check to see your battery is in good condition and fully charged.
3. If both are good something is draining your battery when your car is off.
4. Get a multimeter and run it in series with battery ground to see how many millamps of current the car is drawing from the battery while off. Compare with another Integra or shop. Make sure all accessories are off, door is shut, nothing is in 12vdc outlet.
5. If readings are higher then normal something is drawing too much current.
6. Pull fuses one by one and see if the current level drops. If it does its something in that circuit.
