Honda Odyssey 2001 bad transmission
Hello,
I have a transmission problem and the dealer told me will cost me 3k to install a rebuild tranny. My question and my problem is that I had been reading a lot o complains of people that had changed their transmissions up to 3 times in an averarage of 100,000 miles range. This gives me an impression that the problem on these specific type of transmission it hasn't fixed. Is there some advice in what to look or choose so I am not ending changing the transmission several times? Another question is: an independient transmission place offers 3ys or 100,000 thousand miles vs. Honda Dealer 3 yrs or 36,000 milles. As info my van has 102,000 miles now. Please help

change the transmission fluid! Been a honda tech for a while now and its real easy to tell why they go bad...lack of maintenance. Also it seems a lot of people like to throw it into drive while still moving in reverse when backing out of a parking space or drive way...this will also speed up the process of failure.
