son has a 1999 accord cant seem to get air out of system.
I changed mc & bench bledstill goes to floor bled each wheel three times no good .MY ouestions are
1 If the abs pump is ng can i bypass it so even if that has air in it wont
go into the system ?
2. The pedal is hard with the engine off but when i start the engine it goes to floor.
What do i change the abs pump ? the brake booster , Im stumped Ive bled brake be never had this kind of trouble.
Okay so i plugged the vacummn booster & I have brakes & hard pedal if you press hard. Does that mean there is no air in system? Is power booster BAD.thanks jim

If air got into the ABS control, I don't think you can get it out by manually bleeding. You may need to take it to a dealer or service shop that can properly activate and bleed the ABS control.

Sounds like you bled the system incorrectly.
According to the FAQ Brake Bleeding/Flushing Brake bleeding sequence: 1) Driver side front, 2) passenger side front, 3) passenger side rear, 4) driver side rear.
Sounds weird I know, but that may be the issue. Did you bleed Rear to Front or Diagonally?

NO . I GUESS IM GOING TO HAVE TO BRING IT SOMEPLACE. I just wanted to try to not use abs .When i plug the booster vac hose i get a hard pedal would,nt that mean there is no air in system?

There is a bleeder on the ABS pump assy, did you bleed that?

also could be the master cylinder. the seal will wear and when u press the brake goes to floor

 

I believe he said he replace the master cylinder and bench bled it. Did you guy an OEM Honda or aftermarket? Maybe it's defective.

 

Seriously, if you want to chime in and help at least read the original post and ALL comments thereafter or don't bother. Half of this thread is about correcting someone who failed to read the OP.

In regards to the OP; "Hard pedal" is subjective. Without having my foot on the pedal I can't comment in any fairness if the pedal feels ok with the booster out of the equation.

When replacing brake fluid from a normally operating system ( performing maintenance ) the bleeding order isn't very important. When removing air from the system the bleeding sequence is very important. Be sure to bleed the system in the order accoring to the manufacurer.

There can be other reasons for a low pedal. Misadjusted brake shoes can cause a low pedal. Binding brake pads can cause a low pedal ( I've seen it myself ). Weak flex lines. Never seen a case of over boosting. Usually a failed booster gives no assist.

Brakes are important. If you can't figure it out, you should definately get professional help.
