Is it worth it?

I'm thinking about buying an ITR but my friends have said if I'm going to use it as a DD, it's not worth getting one. What are all your opinions on this? If I buy the ITR, it will most likely be the car I will drive the most.
^^how did you know where I live lol. I dd mine in ne and tn. Just be smart and keep a low profile. Agree someplaces you can't dd. And quality security is a must
I would not recommend an ITR as your only car. As much as I DD mine in the summer...there's always times when I refuse to park it in certain places and therefor take my other car. Be mindful...an ITR is one of the most sought after cars by professional and amateur thieves alike. You'll also have to deal with haters. Also, don't hide behind the "I have full coverage" bs. It's usually a battle with insurance to get the proper value of the R when something happens.
Agree with all said above. I've been daily driving my car since day one and it sucks! Don't get me wrong, I love driving the car to work/school/ect, but the worry that comes along with it and sometimes your rushed to fix it because you need it to drive because you don't have another car on the side to use..
My buddy just bought a teg and was worreid about the same thing. If you want the car, buy it, but also i would strongly suggest investing in a high-quality security system. It may be expensice now, but it will definitly pay for itself if someone tries to do anything.
As far as having it as a DD, its all preference. Good Luck.

If you can get a good deal on one, buy one. If you can't, just get a GSR or something. Of course ITR's are nice to have, but don't kill yourself trying to attain one. I think the fear factor is from all of the stories posted on Honda-Tech. Luckily, most of the theft takes place in CA; however, that doesn't mean it can't happen on the East Coast just as much. Anyways, just be advised about the pro's and con's--if you don't mind racking up miles on a fairly expensive model of an older Acura/Honda, or worrying about theft possibly on a daily basis, get one. If not, just get something cheaper and call it a day.

If you're young, you won't mind the ITR as a daily driver. At this point in my life, no way I could ever see myself doing that. It's a fantastic weekend car, though.
Not to mention all the attention (good and bad) that comes with driving one.

I was thinking of taking the stickers off and keeping them in a safe place. would that lessen the risk of it getting stolen? or are the 5 lugs and wing a dead giveaway?
live in central jersey btw

I'm 30 and love driving my car daily, things will change though with my new role at work though.
Ive been DDing mine for about 8 months or so and love it. However, where she is parked is safer than in a bank vault! Its also my only car right now. I agree with what others above have said. If you cant park it somewhere safe, you need another car. Im looking into getting a beater again because id love to go to the movie theater/mall/restaurants in the area!
Its your money. Do what makes you happy, just know the hassels that come along with owning an R. A friend told me this...
"No matter what happens to the car, you'll never regret owning a Type R."

it has a lot of room to haul stuff. peppy, good mpg, an lsd which helps in all weather conditions. the only downside i see is the high theft rate.
Sounds a lot like my daily MS3, only the MS3 is quieter and attracts way less attention. Plus, it is easy to get a little one in and out of the back seat due to it having 4-doors.
Lol you can't take the stickers off and reuse them. Most thieves know what they are getting anyway. If you go py pretty obvious its an itr.
just get it and get full coverage i DD mine and for the first couple of months i felt like it was going to get stolen every time i parked somewhere. but now i dont really mind parking it where ever.. just get nice security features where the only way possible of taking it is by tow. thats how mine is....
Anyone notice he lives in NJ, stolen ITR capital of the US. If you don't have a garage, a second car and a lot of knowledge on how to keep one safe, I would stay away from it. Not worth paying for one to have it stolen and stripped then have insurance give u nothing.

I've got a 2nd car (the audi, the TSX is my dads that i borrow sometimes because it's stick), and we've got a garage, just kick my mom's 04 grand cherokee out of it and make way for the ITR
yah still the problem is it's going to be a dd. That means people will see it, learn your routine (work/school) and will eventually take it when you aren't around. The only people I know that have managed to keep these cars from being stolen over the years have been people that use them as weekend cars and don't leave them anywhere.
