Installed obd2 p30 now car wont idle....
Car is a 97 civic cx swapped d16y7 for a b16a2 running a obd2a to obd2b jumper and the si ecu. Car ran perfect except for the cel light being on due to ftp sensor. So i searched for solutions to this code and decided to find the obd2 p30 ecu. I found one and installed it,as I read it would be plug and play. started the car for the first time it fired right up and died instantly. Started it again and gave it gas to keep it running. Adjusted idle screw and throttle cable to keep it at a steady idle, but it idles at 1000 to 1100 rpm when it used to idle at approx 700 rpm. Cold starts are tough the tach needle jumps from 1500 down to 100 rpms catches it self and will idle low. so I have to keep foot on the gas till car warms up. Could it be a bad ecu, or do I have wiring messed up? Keep in mind 10 min prior to installing obd2 p30 car ran perfect with a obd2a<b jumper and si ecu just cel for ftp sensor. Now car runs crappy but yea no cel.
Thank you for your input.... half tank of gas. Didnt check the gas cap tho.... Reinstalled the si ecu(p2t) and jumper and had to adjust idle back a lil bit and it runs perfect again. If p30-a01 ecu is bad wouldnt the car not run or throw codes???

two resistors can fake the ECU into thinking that the FTP is present. (search it's been covered)
a bad ECU can result in anything happening. It all depends on what's bad and how it goes bad.
I'd try the P30 ECU on another OBD2a honda and see what happens.

Thanks for the input...... as far as the resistor thang goes, I have the potentionometer thing ( volume ****) never got around to installing it because I also read that it can throw another code. Thank you tho all these views and you are only the second person to post anything!!!!!!! One thing tho when the p30 was installed running crappy and all my radiator fan came on........ somthing Ive yet to hear on the p2t (si) ecu........weird
had the same issue with my hatch. i tried the obd2a-obd2b jumper harness with the p2t and couldn't get rid of the stupid ftp code, so i bought the p30 and its worked perfect every since. Sounds like you have a wiring issue going on... Did you do the ckp bypass trick?
Are you serious here? You have not gotten this fixed since last May? Why don't you reinstall the ECU that actually had the engine running and just take care of the CEL?

What is the hard-on for the P-30?

Thannk you ek mike. I checked the ffs technet web page, and it was my understanding that trick applies to jdm engines using usdm ecu's. But if thats what fixed yours its worth a shot.
Grumblemarc.... the hard on for the p30,......... is for emmisions, so I can pass deq. Until I can track down all components needed to add ftp sensor and all the other evap stuff to my car
