Bad Idle and Funky Driving
have 97 Civic OBD2... running B20B OBD2... with P75 ECU. Only problems I've had with it since we did the swap was bad wiring plug for throttle position sensor.. which I now fixed. And bad idle problems. Which I'm "pretty" sure is causing something else to happen.. anyway..
Car starts up.. and runs fine for a while. After it warms up it starts to idle bad.. bouncing the RPM's at 1500.. so it goes 1500 to about 1505.. then back to 1500 and so on.. The car always seems to have problems around 1500 RPMs... if I'm driving and I shift to a low gear.. at 1500 RPMs.. it stutters and jerks.
Also.. the car is almost impossible to keep at a steady speed.. it always has to be accelerating or engine breaking. If I try to hold the gas at a steady speed it jerks and stutters. I think this "might" have something to do with the idle control.
Car also jerks pretty hard when applying pressure to or away from the gas pedal. Which I think is also linked to the bad idle and throttle problems.
A few ideas I've had but I'm not rich so I can't act until I know the exact problem are:
- Possible problem with throttle cable? but that wouldn't cause bad idle.
- Bad Idle Air Control Sensor, this is a code being tossed by ECU so it's a possibility, but my ECU used to say throttle position sensor was bad till I fixed some other problems. So sensor might not be bad.
I'm really bettin on bad sensor because the car doesn't change at all when I unplug the idle air control sensor. If anyone has any ideas on how to run tests and be sure. PLEASE follow up.

Re: Bad Idle and Funky Driving (PerfectXtreme)
When you swapped in the b20 did you move the A14 pin to the A12 slot. This is for the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). If the IACV is not hooked up right it will cause the stutter between 1500-2000rpm.

hmm, you say that your idle goes from 1500-1505 or so. like very little idle change. my car did that for a while, until i changed the cap and rotor. the cap had a buildup of stuff on there so i scraped it off.
also my car did that stuttering thing, and it felt like you could never get it to keep at steady throttle. check your timing too.
