Default Cant get into Reverse.. Anybody know?? HELP!!

Long story short.. bought a y8 swap from a dude (probably not the best dude) to put it into my 99 ek hatchback. Swapped it into my ek and then can't get into reverse gear but can to all the others. Seems like whenever I try to shift into reverse it always ends up being around 5th gear I believe. Anybody know whatsup? BUMP for info.

OH AND ALSO: For some reason whenever I bump the shifter to the left (1-2 gear) the bump is there but when I shift it to the right (5-R gear) the bump back action is not there for some reason. It just slacks and lays there on the (5-R gear) side.

i have a b16 trans with the same problem, when we took it apart it was the 5-R synchro sleeve so that might be the issue, but answer i can give you, take it apart and inspect it

Sounds like you definitely have an internal transmission issue. Most likely a faulty/missing detent or return spring. But you won't know until you take off the case and inspect.

^ what he said. either way, your transmission is muffed, and that guy definitely screwed you over.

its a 00 d16y8 transmission!! THE BEST!! Oh and also are the parts replaceable if it were the 5-R sleeve or the return spring midjiggy or something?

Yes the transmission is repairable as long as it hadn't grenade'd. Cost to repair always depends on what needs replaced. If it's a spring or detent ball- real cheap. A 5th/R synchro set- kind of costly. A gear or gear set & synchro set- not worth it. Yes you can get D-series transmissions real easily.
