pads/rotor replacement problem. What happened?
I just replaced all of my pads and rotors. Everything seems to be fine except for the rear drivers side. After replacing the rotors and pads, I drove around for a few minutes without breaking hard. Within a few minutes I could smell and see smoke from the rear drivers side break. I got out and noticed that the rotor had streaks around it and was not perfectly smooth anymore. When I jack the car up so that the rear wheels are not touching the ground, the drivers side wheel does not spin freely, but the passenger side does. Also, the pads on that rotor look like they are not wearing properly. Did this brake seize? What could of happened and how can I fix it? Thanks!

If you didn't have problems before, my guess is you didn't get the inboard pad seated right. Since it didn't seat, there isn't enough piston movement and the caliper doesn't sit right.
On the rear brakes, the caliper piston has a recessed "+" in it. The backing plate on the pad has an alignment pin that needs to slide into one of the piston grooves. Since you have to turn the piston clockwise to compress it enough to fit over the new pads, stop turning when 1 of the grooves is horizontal to the ground. The alignment pin should now slide in.
If this isn't your problem, either the piston is trashed or the ebrake cable on that side is seized.

Tonight I noticed that one of the caliper pins was seized. After A LOT of hammering and penetrating oil I broke it loose. I cleaned it and greased it up. I think that this was my problem, but I have not driven the car yet so I am not sure. I will check out the piston too. Thanks for your advice!
