Post First Time - Need starter advice 95 Civic Dx

Hey Guys,

First time - Dallas, Tx.

I need advice on where to start revamping my 95 Civic DX coupe. Let me tell you what I want out of this project. The car will be my son's when he turns 16 in about a yr.

Power: I want the car to have a little more hp than the stocked 102. Just enough to get up an go when there is a need. I'm thinking some type of intake, exhaust - But I am completely clueless with what options I have for a D15B7.

External: New paint, upgrade 14" rims to 16" or 17", install missing side mirror on passenger side, Tint windows - current tint has been removed but has a lot of residue left over on back window.

Internally: Sounds - whole system speakers and all, Steering Wheel casing is broken due to car being stolen, SRS light on, Re-carpet (Optional).

The car is currently all stock and runs great. Externally there is minor hale damage and pealing pain. I just need pointers on where to start for a project like mines.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to one of the best Honda/Acura resources in the world.

No ifs ands or buts about it, the D15B7 is a weak little engine. Reliable, but unpowerful.

Your best bet, if you don't want to do a full swap, is a "mini-me" conversion... aka a VTEC head on your stock long block.

15" rims on 195/50/15 tires are your best bet for looks, gas mileage and power.

Look for your side mirror on eBay.

As for the residue from the tint, use a blow dryer to melt it off.

Internally: Sounds - whole system speakers and all, Steering Wheel casing is broken due to car being stolen, SRS light on, Re-carpet (Optional).
Best bet for your SRS problem, if safety and inspection isn't a huge concern is to do an aftermarket steering wheel with a quick release. Also, don't tell anyone I told you, you can disable your SRS light by just popping open the gauge cluster and taking the bulb out. Or, even more simple, just put a piece of black electrical tape over top the SRS sticker on the cluster.

Best wishes, and keep it clean!

Thx DxHatchback - Will consider doing the mini-me conversion. Going to search the site for pics on that build.
