Boring,lame photography of a boring,slammed coupe in front a brickhouse /emo
looks pretty good man. the time of the day and lighting would really help you. you are taking pictures of a somewhat darker car in the shadows and contrasting them with direct sunlight, which makes it even harder to see the details
The car is OOF... a lot of them are, actually.
Apart from that, I'd go with what Machinehead115 just said.
Black rims in the shadows = can't see the details at all. Then when you want to compensate, the exposure might be hard due to the fact that you don't want to white out part of your pics.

How did you set up your AF map? Usually it would be able to spot what is close, and what is distant. Too bad you don't live anywhere around me, otherwise I could help you out.
^ i know man, learning this thing on my own is hard without someone telling me if i'm doing it wrong.
As far as the AF map goes, i have no clue even how to set such a thing....

Well if you have the time, take a look at my Flickr, and tell me which pictures you like. Most of the time I can tell you what I did / how I took the shot.
Otherwise, try looking for tips & tricks on websites. Even experiment with stuff in your room. If you ever need a good lens for profile pictures (of people, for example) get the 50mm f/1.8 EF-S. It's a VERY good prime lens, and I have been taking very good shots of models (along with my 580EXII flash).
Let me know if you need anything else. I'm on and off HT, as I am at work right now.

Is that the "nifty fifty"? I've been thinking about getting it, would that lens have a good bokeh?
