NRG Innovations Type R replica seat
Whats up H-T
Im looking to get a new set of seats for my dc2, and i would love to have a set of Type R seats, JDM or USDM it doesnt matter, but they are just wayyy to much for me to afford right now. I found these Type R replica seats made by NRG, the same people that make the quick release hubs, etc etc.
Ive heard some horror stories about replica seats like this, and how the quality normally sucks and how they are nowhere near as safe as an oem seat, for example. So heres my question...NRG is pretty well known in our industry for making nice safe products, so would these seats be up to safety regulations/and be durable and safe in the case of an accident?
Ive searched around and havent found anything on these particular seats. So im just wondering that if NRG is a good enough brand that we trust our steering wheels with their hubs, shouldnt their seats be good quality as well??

Any "whatever"-style seat for only $199 I wouldn't touch with a 37-1/2 foot pole. I highly doubt they have performed the proper crash testing and design on those seats, because they would cost more than $199 if they had done so.
the entry level sparco or corbeau cr1 for $349ea are as cheap of seat as you should ever consider. personally, i like the cr1 more than the entry level sparcos, better looking and feeling seat.

I had those replica seat for a bit. They were awful. They didn't sit right and finally had a piece break after about three months. NRG would't replace them. I would stay away from these....
Yeah i looked into Sparco, and the cheapest one that reclines is cheaper than i thought. So i think thats the route im gonna go. Thanks for the info on those replica seats. I guess all replica seats are garbage
I bought the NRG Type R replica's and they are DOT certified for daily use. They just aren't FIAA cert. for racing, but 10-1 if your spending 300 for a pair of seats, you probably aren't racing! EVEN THEN, stock seats aren't FIAA cert yet people use them in circuit all the time!
ALSO, I haven't had any problems with mine except that JHPusa sent me brackets for the newer 4 door civics instead of for 92-95 civics. Easily solved when I sold those brackets and bought some from wedge engineering.
