sputtering 1990 si hatchback D16A6
Ok here is the problem that started blown head gasket.Replaced that, new intake gasket valve gasket,timing belt cleaned intake new plugs wires,distributor new,rotor,tdc set timing oilchange,so all new oil in engine cleaned the head,checked it looked good,started it ran good for that day,next day it started to sound like missfire,or sputtering.any ideas,tired of spending money what can this be baffled.Oh replaced main relay last fall.
I checked the engine codes there are none so nothing there.trying to rebuild the body not keep putting money in engine

how did you check the head? if just visually then your problem may be that the head and/or block surface is warped. which could very well lead to a blown hg soon after fixing it
Ok just looked at it visually didnt have machine shop look at it .But like i said ran find after repair,the next day I went to go start it and then after block or so started to sputter.not burning antifreeze.oil is good,no leaks.I looked at the plugs they looked good.anything else i could check.Because anything else besides going back into the engine.
iT RAN BETTER WHEN IT WAS BURNING ANTIFREEZE.Besides doesnt the head gasket allow for a liitle difference between the head and engine.like small imperfections?anyhing else.I dont think this is the problem.

hey I dont think I hear my fuel pump,I know Its pumping cause I seen fuel come out the fuel inlet hose when I took it off, But dont hear whine anymore Used to hear it hum,Is there different stages for the fuel pressure.mY MAIN RELAY LOOKED WHITE INSIDE COVER.I resotterd the points main relay,here to clicks when I turn my key.Then hear the hum but not when its running.

When go and start in the morning runs good for about 2 minutes then sputtering starts when I give it gas seems like it wants to go.The rpms sounds like like they gain slowly.Idle is low probally around 450 500 rpm no rpm gauge Just have to listen.
But dont hear the fuel pump when I drive I used to hear it a while back.I think I used to hear it hum when drove it before?I goes da da da da da when I give it gas when in gear.not very responsive.Starts with little sputtering at first then more I drive it the more sputters over longer duration of time. Once on the highway since its manual,At higher speeds I dont notice it.

That might be the problem Because when I burned antifreeze before It ran better cause basically I was probally useing that for fuel more then gas.engine can run of antifreeze but cost to much.And not very good for enviroment.
Ok replaced fuel pump not it, Whats the resistance on fuel injectors for this?mine are only putting out 1.2-1.5ohm

any other ideas?wasn't the problem need help,I never adjusted the valve lash,do I have to I just took the head off and put it back on after I blew the head gasket?I didn't think I had to since its the same head and no mods were done could this be causeing the missfire,or sputtering after 3 min after warmup?

i went out and bought some new wires and now it runs find.The thing is these wires are only 2months old there was small rip in one the boots couldnt see it unless I pulled on them.runs great
