Default New guy here with a water pump question H22

Try not to flame me too much. But here is the deal. Im doing my timing belt and water pump on my H22A4 swaped in to my 92 SI, I order a new one off of ebay, I pull the old one,, compare. well it all looks the same but the fins. The old fins look bigger and thinner and the new fins looks stubby. now is this just another design or is it the wrong pump for my motor?, the ebay listing sed H22A4 VTEC water pump

Well I would not have gotten a water pump off ebay, If something goes wrong its a real bitch to get to the pump. I'm pretty sure its just a design difference and it should work fine. but good luck you would have been better off with a honda genuine part.

Ya i hear you on that one. But il try it out then c how it works, it wasnt too bad getting to it so if i have to pull it again i will, it will just be a waist of money. Oh and another question !!, do all the H22 engines take the same size timing belt, I want to get a Gates Racing timing belt but all i can find it for is the H22A,

NEVER buy anything but a Honda oil pump because if that thing ***** the bed while driving you can ruin your engine and it's a well known fact buying China crap off of ebay wont last.

Yes but regardless Japanese parts are made in China (sometimes) because of Cheap labor. The Japanese send there parts to be made by their design specs, the ebay parts are replicas of the Japanese parts and there for do not work as well, similar to Autozone, napa or kragen Parts. All those parts are trash their all replicas and not of the same design as the manufacture. If they were then there would be no profit for a dealership to continue building older model parts.

So lets be clear regardless of dealership prices that is your best bet for optimium results in any parts that are key for you motor such as water pump, oil pump, fuel pump etc. Brake pads batteries, and simple tune up parts you can get from those stores but I wouldn't recommend crucial parts. (If you can't afford dealership prices go to recycle yards there better than the replicas)

Skrew ebay their all replicas......just like the auto parts stores I only buy cleaners from there.

Yeah...not so much. Many of the parts sold aftermarket are sold by the same supppliers that make the parts for the dealership. You think because it says Honda on it that Honda made it?? Companies like Gates, Denso, GMB, etc all make OEM parts for various manufacturers. They also sell these same parts to parts stores under their own name. Parts specifications are not proprietary for the most part and can be used by parts suppliers when designing a part to be sold for aftermarket purposes. There ARE many cheap, reversed engineered parts(Ebay junk) which probably cannot be trusted. The part pictured is an excellent example of junk. The blades on the cheap pump are cast and can be prone to breaking apart. The design of the blades will also not flow as efficiently due to the thicker diameter in the vanes. This in turn will increase cavitation, the number one killer in todays cooling systems. (Signs of cavitation are often mistaken for electrolysis.)

As for buying junk yard parts...that should explain itself.
