like 3 days ago the car turned off on me on the road and i cheked the distributor and it wasnt throwing spark so i bought one today and put it on and it turned on perfectly but 2 minutes later it turned off and again back to the same problem the distributor is gone no sparks.If anyone knows what causes the distributor to go out it would really help me out. and its a 96 stock single cam

Check your fuses and then test for some power, if nothing could be coil or icm.
