Default Do I need to Baffle Valve Cover for Catch Can?

I have just finished my integra build and after the tune I decided to take it for a trip and found that the oil is filling up my catch can within 50 miles! I was wondering if anyone had to baffle the inside of the valve cover in order to prevent oil build up inside the catch can? The can is custom made and I didnt baffle the inside of it, and there isnt the OEM baffle inside the valve cover anymore either! here is my setup.

Same problem with my LS. SO I put a baffled my valve cover so the cams cant sling oil down my catch can lines I also baffeled my catch can. I then put a return line from my catch can to the front of my oilpan so I dont have to always drain it.

yeah I may decide to make a return line to the oil pan. I will see how my baffle does with keeping oil out of the can

well I baffled my valve cover but oil is still getting into my catch can, and more than I like. I guess my only other option is making a return line into the back of the "black box" and puting the oil back into the crankcase.

It isnt possilbe that I have installed the Head Gasket and blocked the return port for the oil to get to the head to the block is it? It seems there is to much oil staying in the head.

Ok so I feel like I'm going to have to drain the catch can BACK into the block. I'm wanting to know if I could just run a line from the catch can to the top port on the "black box" that way the oil will find it's way back into the system?

At the moment I'm losing 2/3 qt of oil in 50 miles, with a baffled valve cover, -8 lines, vented atmospherically on 350HP.

HELPPPP!!!!!

Bump.

The liquid in my can is very thin and smells to much like fuel to return to the system but only loose a quart every 500miles or so. I vent mine to the exhaust to create the vacume, not sure if thats why it smells funny though.

its going to smell like gas for the fact that it's a mix of blow by from boost pressure. I really didnt want to drain back into the oil pan but I cant seem to help it...

Remember you are also returning outside moisture into your motor if you drain back....

Yeah after seeing what comes out of my catch can when I drain it. There is no way I'd let that stuff go back into my motor. It seems like there might be something else going on here. 2-3qts in 50 miles seems a bit excessive.

no 2/3rds of a quart in 50 miles.

I'm running at 75psi oil pressure under no boost at 3500RPM, 25psi at idle.

I'm at 150PSI compression on all cylinders, no coolant leaks or anything.

I am assuming the LS Valvecover is not baffled on the front like a B16/GSR is?

The ls has baffles in it both front and rear. Op did mention he had no baffling though. Did you remove it for something?

my machinest removed it, said he had to get the aluminum out of it after welding the fittings...

i've thought about having them stamp another sheet of aluminum out and welding it back in.

There is nothing wrong with using a drain back setup.. Also, you need to put the baffles back into the valve cover, go smack your machinist.

White, liquidy, oily residue going back into your motor to be ran back through. Yeah I'll pass on that.

try going to -10 or -12 an lines. it allows more air flow with less air speed therefore not pulling as much oil with the air. and some baffling in the valve cover would help.

That's the way the cool kids do it! really though, I've been looking into a exhaust vacuum setup for my catch can for a while now.

baffle the valve cover, that's your problem.

No you don't have to baffle the valve cover, as much as people think you do, you don't . If you're filling up your catch can that quickly you have an issue with blow by, as for the can draining back into your block, its fine. The reason you're not seeing straight looking oil is because of the moisture residue, so many people just drain back into the block and never ever have an issue.
