LS turbo - aiming for 400whp pump gas
I just recently brought out my 9+ year old project car to life..
Current mods:
96 B18B
PnP head
Match Ported IM
66mm TB
Crower: dual valve springs & retainers
Stock Cams
Skunk: adj. cam gears
MSD: 6AL ignition box, blaster ss external coil, and dizzy cap
8.5mm ignition wires
Denso: iridium spark plugs
AEM: fuel rail
RC: 750cc fuel injectors
Stock Block
Drag: cast manifold
Turbonetics: T3/T04B?
Tial: 38mm wg
Walbro: 255lph fp
Greddy: bov
custom ic piping
Spearco: fmic
2.5" down pipe
3" mandrel exhaust with flex pipe
Apexi: muffler
Hondata: S300
Stock LS Trans
Action Clutch: 6 puck/sprung & flywheel
Innovative: motor mounts (red insert)
I recently brought it over to Erick's Racing for Dynotuning and it hit 236hp and 214tq. Make a long story short, I WANT MORE!
I want to stick with my Pure LS setup (NO VTEC).. What would you do next?
* My thoughts:
- wiseco pistons, eagle rods, arp bolts, acl bearings, cometic headgasket, golden eagle sleeve (safe side), balance crank, etc.. (pretty much fully built bottom end) And then UP the Boost!
- possibly change camshafts and add some stainless valves to finish the head)
- also thinking of changing to ramhorn manifold and a Garrett t3/t04e 57 trim .60 ar (I don't like the placement of the wastegate on the drag manifold also i think the turbo maybe a little small..
Should this be more than enough?
Thanks in advance!

Jesus if it isn't enough, just re-post with larger font.
this should be in the FI forum, also what psi are you running to get 236hp?

yes to all
dnt know if sleeves will be necessary for 400whp. but better safe then sorry.
biran crower stage 3 camshafts fot the winn. i got some for sale for $200 used it a couple days blew bottom end cuz rods where mounted wrong :/
kkk tripple ball bearing turbine

I'm running eagles in my set up and they've held up fine so far, but if I was gonna do it again, I'd do manleys. Sleeves wouldn't be nessasary, but better safe than sorry, especially if you decide on more power. Non-vtec head isn't the way to go though. Making power will be lots easier witha vtec head. There is no reason to not do an ls/vtec when your building the motor. Be able to rev it out and make power up high.

Your right, you CAN make power higher up with a non-vtec head. The question is, why would you? If your going to take the time to have the motor built and some head work done, why not spend a little more and get a better flowing head? Even with cams, your still limited to what the head can flow. You'd have to do a lot of head work to a non vtec head to get it to flow like a stock VTEC head, but are still handicapped by the non vtec cams. Cams are a trade off of where you want the power. With a lot of head work done, you could get cams that make good power higher up, but you will lose low end and some mid range. For just a track car or something, that may not be to bad, but for something your gonna drive regularly, I doubt the powerband would be much fun, especially with a larger turbo.
8lbs. boost, wastegate only.. brand new Tial 38mm started creeping at around 6500rpm, down to 7lbs.ish. I think the wg placement on the drag cast manifold accounted for this as well

Thanks guys for the thoughts.. I don't want to go VTEC because, I think my goal is doable with a bigger turbo and a few more mods.. (argueable) Also, so many people underestimate the potential of non-vtec motors.. So, I'm going against the odds!
* Nothing against the VTEC guys, no doubt has unleashed some power with its addition.. Well if my goal ain't hit with the ls head then, I'll join the mainstream and slap a VTEC head on..

here's a graph of one locally to me. Made good power and real good torque, but didn't fully spool untill almost 5k With 18lbs of boost and had about 2k worth of powerband with power falling off pretty steeply. Not sure of the full set up on this car though, but let's say he has some head work and stock cams, he may be able to get more power higher up with aftermarket cams, but he would end up losing more mid range. Although he's got good peak numbers in that car, it's not always about peak numbers. Good luck with whatever you decide to do though.
i have a b18 bottom end with acl bearings eagle rods and wiseco 8.6:1 with cometic head gasket and a 50 trim turbo with .62ar and i am making about 350hp with a partially tuned car. havent been able to finish because of overheating issues but fixed those will let you know final numbers. but no need for sleeves.
