What are people using for boost control for wide range of psi?
What type of boost control are you all using?
on my car, im running stock ecu, and the stock solenoid for boost control isnt cutting it for bigger boost now. i had to put an 18lb spring in just to reach 29-30psi w/ maxed out DC. and w/ 18psi base pressure in 1st and 2nd, im just spinning like crazy on the streets.
im trying to get the car dialed in for the track so i dont have issues in the first 330'.
since i'm running stock ecu, i don't want to opt for anything standalone ecu related (aem ems, etc)
i need something that is capable of letting me run a light spring, but run upward of 35-40psi. i know it can be done.
I need boost by gear, and even boost by rpm with that would even be better.
anyone running a 4-way boost solenoid instead of the typical 3-way? it's suppose to allow for a way wider range of boost and a use of light spring?
I seen the turbosmart Eboost2 'sport compact' but after reading the owners manual, it doesnt seem exactly the most friendliest of boost controllers.
any suggestions would be awesome.

Hondata S300 with a mac solenoid, try lower frequencies to get more boost out of it.. Works well for all the cars I tune..
are you using the standard 3-way mac solenoid valve that is popularly used? what size spring, and what is your max boost?
and on top of that, are you utilizing both ports on the WG?
basically right now, i got one line that goes from the solenoid to the turbo, and another from the solenoid to the bottom nipple on the WG..
im wondering if upgrading to a mac 3-way solenoid and switching the vacuum line setup to utilize both WG's will allow me to reach my desired boost, with a lighter spring.
ultimately, im looking to run a 12lb spring, and be able to run 35-40psi..

im going to order a MAC solenoid right now. im pumped to know my goals arent far-fetched.

I use neptune with boost by gear.
you need to get a 4-port mac valve which allows you to control the top and bottom
of the gate.
I personally run a 7lb spring and have gone as high as 36psi without any issues.

knowing the model is 1 thing, finding someone that sells it is another. Turbosmart sells it, but they want like 130 for it when i seen similar model 4ways (but not the 1 i need) for like $50.
withoug looking at my car because i know im not using all 3 ports, it is the one on the left. i prefer to have the boost reference off of the turbo. some people dont, but id rather regulate the boost from the source not at the manifold.
I run the typical mac valve, 8 psi gate springs, running 8 psi up to 36 psi.. Hook it up like your first diagram, port 1 on the valve to the bottom of the gate and the compressor outlet, port 2 to the top of the gate, middle port on the solenoid (port 3) is the vent.

thank you very much dragls. i was able to source the 35A 3-way's easily, but wasnt sure which solenoid model i needed for the 4-way.

Thats how mine is setup.
Also if using Hondata or neptune it still a 31hz valve.

In for the results of this, I would also like to run 8psi up to 40psi or so without CO2.... I was going to get 10psi springs and hope for the best but if this works I want lighter springs.

the solenoid ended up not being compatible w/ the EBC that I used (N2MB, made specifically for the srt-4). I worked with the software developers for a bit specifically trying to get it to work, and it never panned out correctly.
ended up using the diagram on the left, in post #6...utilizing a DTEC EBC. had boost by gear, and by rpm. i've used several other EBC's before and hands down this is the best one i've used to date. simple to setup, and worked great.
I didn't get the eboost2 like i was thinking about getting earlier in this thread, because I learned the eboost can only be ran w/ boost by gear by setting up input switches that you'd have to manually switch each gear. the dtec you just calibrate each boost map to each gear you plan on using the map for, then its done. no switches or anything.
9lb spring, and it ran 40psi on 95% DC in 3rd gear and about 89-90% DC in 4th gear. 1 46mm WG.
fwiw, if anyone's interested in it (i'm guessing not since alot of you guys have the opportunity to run hondata or run ems), but the dtec's fs since i'm parting out.

Another way is to program an AUX output on your ECU to ground the AUX inputs on the EB2 accoding to the gear you are in.
Is anyone using the "two port connection method 2" shown below? That configuration seems like it would net the widest boost range. The solenoid would effectively switch boost reference from the bottom port to the top port allowing for maximum pressure differential.
