Default I know my engine is gone!!!

I am sooo mad, confused, worried, etc. If anyone else read my previous thread, I just installed some Skunk2 Stage 1 cams in my B18C1. The Skunk2 Gears were at Intake -2 and Exhaust was -1 and I just drove it like that for one day because it was late when we finished and I was unsure how to adjust the timing.

Well, I find out how to adjust the gears, so I adjust both gears to 0,0 and start my car. It sounds fine, the idle is kinda rough, but nothing bad. I drive slowly around my neighborhood and then up to 40MPH, not going over 3000RPM's just to let my car warmup. So I take my car out onto a 50MPH road and rev to roughly 7000, so around 55MPH and suddenly my check engine light starts blinking and I can hear a ticking noise (MY VALVE(s) BENT I BELIVE). I'm at this point just thinking, ****!!! I get to the next light and my car just dies and my oil light goes on. Keep in mind I just barely changed my oil 5 minutes before I drove. I keep trying and trying to start it up and it won't start until at least 5 minutes later, but it's very loud and very rough. I end up driving it, with my check engine light blinking as well as my oil light on and on top of that everytime I had to slow down and when my RPM's dropped low my car would just die. Luckily I was only 2-3 minutes away from home. Also, tons of smoke was coming from my car this entire time. I finally got home and I'm just scared (yes, scared). I pulled the CEL codes and I got a 71, 72, and 67 (which was already there). Here are the CEL problems: Cylinder 1 & 2 Misfire or a Random Misfire a condition is present that is creating a cylinder misfire. I'm very worried and I don't know what to do? I checked the timing belt and it looks ok, there's no leaking from the valve cover and the gears are still at 0,0. What did I do wrong? What should I do now??? What can I check?? I know it's a lot of questions, but I can't handle this both because of time and money. Please help!

sounds you didnt adjust your cam gears correctly and messed up your ignition timing.

what you can do is get the car towed into a shop to get it fixed.

I did adjust my gears right though. They have been and still are at 0,0. Considering that I bent valves, what needs to be done? Generally how long will it take to get fixed and how expensive is it?

Stainless steel valves $18
Machine shop labor $200
If you pull the head $free
Shop pulls head + new headgasket $450

what is your full setup?

I can't imagine the stage 1 cams would give you any problems with valve to piston contact on a stock bottom end... You should have at least 5 degrees to play with...

What is your timing set at?

Sorry to hear about that. Might should have taken it to a shop to install them, that way if anything went wrong it would be on them and not you.

Thanks everyone....

My car's timing is stock and I was running my stock valvetrain, but it shouldn't be an issue because I didn't/haven't revved over 8000 RPM's. All I have is Skunk2 Stage 1 Cams/Skunk2 Gears/JDM 4-1/CAI and then suspension. I'm not sure what's wrong or what's going on....

We'll just say that I'm really worried and that's an understatement.

Stock gsr springs arent gonna cut it.
all you have to go into vtec and something bad could happen.

With the skunk cams or any cams that are not the ones the car came with? How about ITR cams? I think skunk 1's have the same kind of profile as the CTR cam.

Because I have been driving around with ITR cams in my gs-r for a while and things are ok so far. I read quite a few places saying I didn't need to upgrade the valve springs if I didn't want to rev of 8 grand.

What is you take on this sgT?

i would double check the timming and make sure the belt didn't jump at all...the skunk 2 stage 1's aren't big enough to cause any kind of damaged at +2 degrees.

install problem?
did you check your timing with a timing light?
were you using the correct marker on the crank pulley?

Are you sure you had the cam timing correct... i.e. perhaps you were off a tooth or a few?

There had to have been a timing problem. That's the only thing that could've gone wrong. Unfortuantely for me, I and the people helping me out didn't take the necessary precautions, such as checking the timing etc,. I don't know what to say or think, except Thanks everyone.

Who drives off after installing a cam and not checking timing? valve adjustment? wtf? Minutes saves your *** always. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. If any light comes on like CEL or Oil light, stop trying to start the car. Find out what the problem is first otherwise you'll just end up doing more damage.
