How much would you spend on an R shell?
So I just wanted to get my point accross and wondering how much fellow h-t members or fans would be willing to buy a rolling ITR shell with no motor. IMHO any shell ITR or not is no where near worth 7500 as I've seen on this site. Again ITR shell or not I would only pay close to 3000

I patiently searched for over a year for my 98 theft-recovery. It still had a clean title because the previous owner didn't have full coverage insurance, so there was no total loss claim. The JDM front end was taken and the interior was fairly stripped, but the 5-lug and original engine/transmission (w/ matching #'s) were still present. I was able to pick it up for $1800. Good deals emerge from time to time. You just have to be patient, search constantly, and be prepared to make a move when they pop up. Good luck in your search! Restoring an ITR is a very rewarding endeavour.
Depends on how much it means to you. I'd pay $7500 for a shell with a clean title, low mileage, ect if I planned on keeping the car forever, or even selling it. Factor in it is a DC2 chassis..

stripped theft title cars have sold in my area for roughly 1000
There is one for sale near me for $6500. I wouldn't pay that much for a shell, but then again I am trying to sell a running 98 for not much more than that. I would much rather buy a car similar to mine (higher mileage) and completely stock than go through the hassle of finding all the parts. It just seems like it would be cheaper in the long run even if the shell was $5k.
If you're a true R fan low mileage shouldnt even matter.. To me its a number on a cluster ur putting in another engine and transmission anyways. I always wanted an R but I ended up with a GSR which is still not bad at all I love it but I still want and wish I had an R lol. I can't afford a Type R straight off the bat so thats why I was lookin to rebuild one but shells now a days cost the price of a running 98 and up integra which is why I wanted to know how much you guys were willing to spend before I whip out the cash u feel me.
If you can't afford to buy a ITR outright then I hate to say it..... but you can't afford a proper rebuild. You're going to spend more money buying stupid bullshit parts to piece it back together and corners will probably be cut and it'll be halfassed.
There are deals to be found, just have your cash ready to strike. I bought my 2nd and 3rd ITR's last year, a 98 and 01 both stock/clean titles/with badges and paid 9k and 8k respectively. This is why I lol when some california stunner is asking 7500 for a ****ed up shell.

Yes, everyone should pay that much. Why would anyone sell their Type R shell, for less than $8,000 or sell their Salvaged Type R, for less than $12,000? Would you sell yours for these low prices?
It really depends on the shell, If it has a clean title, still has Type R suspension, and all it needed was a motor and some interior pieces, then I would say that it would be worth $7500.
Salvaged title, missing everything, then no way, maybe $1-1.5k at most

a local DEALER had a complete salvage itr not long ago for 7,000 rolling on 4 lug

Quiet honestly if I had a Type R shell sitting in my back yard and had no plans on rebuilding then I would let it go for a fairly cheaper price then what I've seen. Id let it go for about 2k ( again thats IF i had one ) lol
Well, if you think about it, if you had a mint Type-R for sale, with the motor, then took the motor out and posted it for sale, you would only subtract the price of what it would cost to get another motor; therefore, a Type-R shell is worth the bluebook of the car if it would have a motor, minus the price of what a motor will cost. That's how I think of it.
always thought the same thing before i got my ITR i wasnt even gonna buy one until i found a deal for me... but honestly buy one build it read why ppl go crazy for type r read stories on how ppl have had there stolen and read the history of them and i doubt youll think the same way...
They stole the SI gauge cluster and the front seats (kinda random if you ask me). Less than a month before I received the vehicle the carfax report shows that the previous owner brought it to Jiffy Lube or Valvoline and the mileage was at 28,000 +/- and a few weeks before that it was at 27,000 +/- when they had it serviced at Honda.
So now I have a 2000 Civic SI with less than 50,000 Miles on it (I put on 20K), never been in an accident, all matching VIN. ....Did I get ripped off? Keep in mind that an SI was bringing well over $10,000 in 2003.
The point I am trying to make is that you need to inspect the car before you buy it. Everybody always says "Oh No!, not a salvage title, what do you mean they can't verify the mileage on the body?" .....Who Cares?
Do your homework on the car you are buying to determine the value. Check it out, go over it with a fine toothed comb. If you feel like its not worth what you are going to have to pay for it, guess what? Its not.
I would not buy a "rebuilt" titled car or one that clearly has had major bodywork done to it but a "salvage" title alone, should not matter, find out why it has a salvage title.
Just my two cents.
